Meet Our Founders

William Morgan-Hughes
Starting at the age of 9, William has been performing as a solo singer, choir member, choir director, modern dancer, and actor.

He studied Voice and Choral Conducting at Oberlin Conservatory and graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in Modern Dance Performance.

For several years he taught Contact Improvisation and Modern Dance, then taught voice lessons for a couple decades after that, incorporating body awareness, posture and movement into voice lessons.

Highlights of his performance career include singing for St Francis' 800th birthday with the San Francisco Boys Chorus whilst living and dining with the monks in Assisi, Italy.

Singing the opening solo for the international premiere of I Heard a Voice with Ars Nova Singers in Vancouver, BC. Guest-conducting the First Congregational Chancel Choir on a Sunday last Spring.

And most recently, playing Fred Phelps and Dennis Shepard in Labyrinth's production of The Laramie Project. Founding a new company is a new adventure for him and he couldn't be more pleased with the momentum.

Kristin Morgan-Hughes
Kristin is extremely proud to add "founder" to her resume with the creation of this very special group of people. She has 30 years of experience in the industry and is most excited to see what comes of this company.

She has a long resume of directing, stage management, chorography, event management, training and design.

Some of her biggest, best and favorite credits include: Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, The Laramie Project, Little Shop of Horrors, The Tempest, Cyrano DeBergerac and Avenue Q.

Her time with the craft has instilled a passion to use the art form to give voice to those seeking a microphone for their truth.

Kristin can't wait to see what comes of this journey!

Nicholas Gilmore
Nicholas Gilmore is an active conductor in North America, regularly leading operatic, orchestral, choral, chamber, and musical theater performances.

He has served in Music Director positions for the Denver Young Artist Conservatory Orchestras, Ozark Family Opera, and The Halifax Summer Opera Festival in Nova Scotia.

He also served as Artistic Director of Heartland Opera Theatre in Joplin, Missouri for six seasons, and four seasons as the Music Director and Conductor of Loveland Opera Theatre in Loveland, Colorado.

From the pit, Gilmore has conducted over 60 productions in the United States and Canada. Performances of L’elisir d’amore for Pacific Opera Project were called “fiercely conducted” by LA’s Splash Magazines, and Opera Today wrote, “Gilmore’s light, airy but propulsive reading of the score captured both its comedy and its underlying sentiment.”

During his tenure as Artistic Director of Heartland Opera Theatre, the company experienced massive growth, both artistically and financially, becoming the strongest regional voice for quality opera in Southwest Missouri.
Gilmore currently serves as the Director of Music at First Congregational Church of Greeley where he has led performances of Howard Goodall’s “Invictus,” Dan Forrest’s “The Breath of Life,” and the upcoming North American Premiere of Cecillia McDowell’s “The Ice is Listening.”
Eli Schamane
Wherever there is chaos, you are sure to find Eli either at the heart of it or goading it on from the sidelines.

But that’s what makes them fun to be around, right?

Eli brings 20 years of experience in the performing arts to The Labyrinth. With a focus on vocal performance, they have had the honor and pleasure of performing in showcase productions of Phantom of the Opera, Mary Poppins, and Dreamgirls, to name a few, as well as regularly appearing as a soloist in numerous choirs and oratorio performances. (There was also a very short stint as a Gospel Bluegrass singer, but we don’t talk about that.)

While a musician at their core, Eli has recently been thrilled to explore roles in The Laramie Project and The Minutes (shoutout to GGST) and looks forward to diving further into the world of straight plays alongside their upcoming musical performances.
Their upcoming performances include the Mysterious Man from "Into the Woods", Gabriel from Haydn's "The Creation" and the featured soloist for the upcoming North American Premiere of Cecillia McDowell’s “The Ice is Listening.”

Eli currently serves as the Principal Choral Seat for the First Congregational Chancel Choir in Greeley and eagerly anticipates the many exciting ventures that The Labyrinth has in store for the future.
